The third edition of the Nouvel Obs Literary Prize is set to take place, continuing its partnership with the Maison Chanel, which provides the prize with a total of 20,000 euros. This award honors a female writer for her first book written in French, published between August 2026 and February 2027. The prize aims to support the winner in creating her second novel, offering both financial and creative encouragement. The Nouvel Obs, a weekly magazine, has been hosting this award since its inception. In 2025, it recognized Adèle Yon for her family investigation Mon vrai nom est Élisabeth (Éditions du sous-sol), and in 2026, it awarded Agathe Charnet for Peut-être le hasard (Les Corps conducteurs). The shortlisted titles will be announced in the spring of 2027. The 2026 Nouvel Obs Literary Prize will be awarded in April at the Librairie 7L, a well-known bookstore in Paris. Following the ceremony, the winner will participate in a meeting during the literary festival « MOT pour Mots » in June 2027. The jury consists of literary journalists from Nouvel Obs and notable figures from the literary and cultural world. Among the jurors are Sarah Chiche (writer), Jérôme Garcin (writer and literary columnist at Nouvel Obs), Grégoire Leménager (deputy director of Nouvel Obs), Marie NDiaye (writer), Élisabeth Philippe (senior reporter in the culture department at Nouvel Obs), Amandine Schmitt (literary journalist at Nouvel Obs, responsible for the site BibliObs.com), and Adèle Yon (writer and winner of the first edition). Throughout the year, Nouvel Obs will feature profiles of female authors who are new to the literary scene and are expected to make a significant impact on the French literary landscape. The values upheld by Nouvel Obs, as well as its deep expertise in literature, make the Nouvel Obs Literary Prize a meaningful platform for recognition and support for emerging writers. The Maison Chanel is proud to support this prize once again, demonstrating its commitment to encouraging artistic vocations, nurturing new creative voices, and promoting the reach of literary works to a broader audience. This partnership between Nouvel Obs and Chanel continues a long-standing dialogue between the brand and the literary world, a tradition started by Gabrielle Chanel in the 1910s. It follows the success of the Literary Meetings on rue Cambon, a unique format of discussions that explored the theme of women's emancipation through literature. The collaboration highlights Chanel’s ongoing interest in cultural and intellectual engagement, reinforcing its connection to the literary community.
