Zombie Walk in Mexico City

Thousands of people dressed in zombie costumes and wearing intricate makeup filled the streets of Mexico City on Sunday during the 19th annual "Zombie Walk." The event, held in the capital, brings together participants of all ages for a celebration of the macabre in a festive and welcoming environment.

Diverse Zombie Characters

The event featured a wide range of undead characters, including zombie clowns and a person dressed as a rat. Participants walked, danced, and performed acrobatic stunts along the route, showcasing their creativity and commitment to the theme of the gathering.

Cultural Connection to Death

For some participants, the event reflects Mexico's cultural relationship with death. César López, a graphic designer and participant, explained that the national tradition of playing with death and mocking it contributes to the appeal of such gatherings.

Acceptance and Expression

Makeup artists were on hand to help participants transform into zombies. Daniela Muñiz, a pom-pom girl and participant, said the event offered an atmosphere of acceptance, where everyone could express themselves without fear of criticism or judgment.

Annual Family-Friendly Tradition

This annual gathering has become a tradition in the Mexican capital, combining horror-inspired costumes and makeup with a family-friendly celebration. The event continues to draw participants who enjoy the unique blend of spooky themes and inclusive community spirit.
