Samsung's The Frame television line, known as "the frame" in French, is designed to look like a piece of art rather than a traditional TV. It features ultra-thin edges that create a frame around the screen, making it suitable for wall mounting. The 43-inch model uses QLED technology, which enhances brightness and color accuracy, and includes a One Connect box to manage all connectivity and power, reducing cable clutter. This model also has a matte, anti-reflective screen, making it ideal for use in brightly lit rooms. It also includes an Art Only mode, which displays artwork instead of content, and is currently on sale at PcComponentes for 529 euros, a 370 euro discount from its usual price of 899 euros. The design of The Frame allows users to swap out its magnetic frames for different finishes, such as wood or modern metallic styles, to better match their room's decor. The One Connect box houses all the ports and power supply, connected to the TV with a single five-meter, semi-transparent cable. However, the thin design limits the use of Edge LED backlighting, which lacks Local Dimming—a feature that improves contrast by dimming specific areas of the screen. This could result in less depth for black colors in dark scenes. The TV runs on Samsung’s Tizen OS, which provides access to major streaming apps and includes seven years of software updates. The Art mode offers paintings from famous artists, creating the illusion of a real painting on the wall. Users can also display their own photos or images. Additionally, a Gaming Hub allows access to cloud gaming platforms. However, the 43-inch model is limited to a 60 Hz refresh rate, which may not be ideal for modern gaming consoles that benefit from higher rates. The One Connect box includes four HDMI ports, one of which supports eARC for high-quality audio, and comes with accessories like the eco-friendly SolarCell remote, which recharges using ambient light. The TV has two built-in speakers rated at 20 watts, which may not provide enough power or bass for an immersive movie experience. The overall concept of The Frame involves additional costs for purchasing frames or subscribing to the Art Store for more artwork options.
