French rugby squad updates

The French rugby team has made five changes to its squad ahead of their match against Fiji, bringing back key players and introducing some new faces. This comes as the team prepares for their final matches against southern hemisphere teams before the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.

Autumn matches' importance

The four autumn matches in November hold special significance for the French team, as they represent their last opportunities to face southern hemisphere teams before the World Cup. This makes these matches crucial for the team's preparation and performance.

Key player returns

Several important players have returned to the squad, providing much-needed depth. Rodrigue Neti’s return replaces Reda Wardi, who was suspended for a high tackle in the Champions Cup. This addition strengthens the team's left-wing options ahead of the match against Fiji.

New reinforcements

Two other new reinforcements in the eight have a good chance of being included in the starting fifteen. Régis Montagne from Clermont is expected to start, replacing Tevita Tatafu from Bayonne. His performance could be key in the upcoming matches.

Florian Verhaeghe's return

Florian Verhaeghe from Montpellier has re-joined the squad, replacing Alexandre Fischer from Bayonne. His strong performance in the scrum this season has earned him a place in the squad, and he could start at number 4 due to Thibaud Flament's absence.

New players' chances

While two new players called up have little chance of playing in the upcoming matches, they will still get an opportunity to prove themselves. Jérémy Ward has been replaced by Léon Darricarrère in the center, who is fighting for his first international cap.

Paul Graou's inclusion

Paul Graou has been included in the squad, replacing Nolann Le Garrec who is injured. This move confirms his place in the hierarchy of French number 9s, and he could get playing time against Fiji to give rest to other players before the match against South Africa.

Upcoming matches schedule

The French team has four matches scheduled for November. They will play three matches in France and a classification match at Twickenham in the UK. These matches are critical for the team's performance and could determine their position heading into the World Cup.
