At the 2026 Livestock Summit, a cow named Schiapa, from the Opinel farm, won the grand champion title in the Brown breed competition. The event, held as the final activity of the week, saw Schiapa receive high praise from judge Cédric Schärz, who described her as having "a lot of style" and being "the most complete today." The judge specifically commended Schiapa's "powerful with finesse" build, her "beautiful back line," and her udder, which had "an almost perfect placement of the teats." These qualities earned her not only the grand champion title but also the prize for best adult udder, highlighting her overall excellence in the competition. The Brown breed competition at the 2026 Livestock Summit awarded several prizes across different categories. Schiapa (Opinel), from the Gaec de St Louis (31), took home the grand champion prize, the adult champion prize, and the best adult udder prize. These awards underscored her dominance in the adult category, where she was judged to be the most outstanding cow in terms of both physical attributes and breed standards. In the young champion category, two cows received recognition. Uniflore (Rastarocket), from the Gaec Loosli (21), and Toscane GP (Yule), from the Gaec de Coulagnet (48), each won the young champion prize. Additionally, both received the best young udder prize, indicating their strong performance in the younger age group. These awards reflect the importance placed on both the overall quality and the specific characteristics of the udder in judging. Beyond the cow competitions, the summit also recognized excellence in cheese production. The best cheese producer prize was awarded to Mafaveur (Hayssli), from the Gaec Changarnier (21). This honor highlights the connection between high-quality livestock and the dairy industry, emphasizing the role of livestock shows in promoting agricultural excellence.
