Students queue for university meals

In front of the university restaurant Boutonnet in Montpellier, nearly a hundred students were waiting in line on Monday, October 12 at noon.

Student describes routine

Lucile Jacomet, a student, stated that she is accustomed to such situations, noting that she arrives at the Crous at 11:30 to ensure she can eat.

Longstanding issue

She mentioned that there has always been significant waiting at Boutonnet, but this school year, the university restaurants are struggling to manage the demand.

Attendance surge reported

The Regional Center for University and School Works (Crous) of Montpellier Occitanie reported an unprecedented increase in attendance, with a 22% rise in the spring and a further doubling at the start of the school year, reaching 48%.

Students criticize resources

Manon Susdorf, another student, lamented the lack of resources, stating that there are not enough staff working at the Crous and not enough meals available.
