Release date and platform

Released on October 28 on Prime Video, Drive - The Pretenders appears to already be engaging the platform's subscribers. With its fast-paced romantic plot, the German film is already on the right track to reach the top 10.

Background and context

Following the success of Attirés Malgré Nous and Toi + Moi Seuls contre tous, and a few days before Campus Drivers, Prime Video decided to surprise its subscribers again by uploading a romance as passionate as it is enigmatic with Drive - The Pretenders. The film follows Sarah, a young mechanic, who agrees to become the fake fiancée of Dante, a racing champion.

Plot and character motivations

Officially, she accepts this offer to restore the driver's reputation, but in reality, this opportunity would allow her to finally prove her talent to join the team and take the wheel during competitions. Despite their differing personalities and personal stories that clash, Sarah and Dante cannot resist the explosive chemistry that binds them.

Challenges during filming

Although the film plays on the sensations and emotions of the audience, it turns out that the filming was also quite complicated for the actors. Interviewed by Télé-Loisirs about the filming conditions of the film, Lisa-Marie Koroll spoke openly about the difficulties she encountered behind the scenes.

Action sequences and stunts

In reality, it was not the intimate scenes that posed a problem, as they are "part of the job." But for the action sequences, it was a completely different story. The script indeed required several stunts, some particularly dangerous and spectacular.

Filming on a race track

"We filmed scenes on a real race track, sequences where we drove ourselves and others where stunt performers did. We had a special car for the stunts, which was rearranged to allow someone to drive from above. Therefore, it was not us who held the wheel or braked in these cases, but we went at 160 km/h on this track. It was crazy!"

Physical toll on actors

Not surprisingly, these intense experiences led to some minor physical complications during filming, as the actors could put their health at risk: "I had nausea and almost vomited because we were going so fast and we were so close. It was a bit like being on a giant loop."

Positive outcome for Lisa-Marie Koroll

Despite the presence of stunt performers on set and the extreme demands of some of the key sequences of Drive - The Pretenders, Lisa-Marie Koroll retains very good memories of this enriching experience, both personally and professionally.
