Rainfall has eased drought restrictions in parts of Indre-et-Loire, but some areas remain under crisis or alert status.
Rainfall eases drought measures
The prefecture of Indre-et-Loire announced on Thursday, October 29, that it is relaxing some measures related to the ongoing drought that has affected the department since the summer. The recent rainfall has caused the Loire River and its tributaries to rise slightly, particularly in the upper basin, though the river remains under alert status between Amboise and Candes-Saint-Martin.Some watercourses remain in crisis
Despite the recent rainfall, several watercourses in the department are still in crisis, the highest level of restriction. These include the Bourouse, the Fontaine Mainard, and streams in Parçay, Montison, Cléret, Rigny, Roche, and the Coulée. Restrictions include significant limitations on irrigation and prohibitions on washing cars at home.Other watercourses under reinforced alert
Additional watercourses, such as the Veude, the Veude de Ponçay, the Négron, the Échandon, and the Chantereine stream, are under reinforced alert. These areas already face significant constraints on irrigation, watering, and filling of swimming pools, even as the region enters November, an unusual time for such restrictions.Drought impacts persist in parts of the department
While many areas have moved out of restriction status, the north, south, and center of Indre-et-Loire remain affected by the drought. Authorities continue to urge residents to conserve water and remain vigilant as the region moves into the autumn season.
