Paradox Interactive and Tantalus Media have announced the upcoming release of Cities: Skylines – Expanded Edition for Nintendo Switch 2. Scheduled for October 28, 2026, the game will be available for purchase at a price of $49, £41.49, or €49. This version has been specifically optimized for Nintendo's new console, offering improved visuals, enhanced performance, extended building tools, and new gameplay mechanics. It also includes additional content at launch. Existing owners of Cities: Skylines on the original Nintendo Switch will receive a 70% discount on the Expanded Edition, available until April 28, 2027. In Cities: Skylines – Expanded Edition, players are tasked with designing and managing a city according to their own vision, whether it's a small coastal town, an industrial hub, or a sprawling modern metropolis. The game retains the core mechanics of the series, such as managing districts, public services, and the needs of a growing population. The Switch 2 edition introduces a larger building space, increasing from 9 to 25 constructible tiles, and includes a map editor that allows players to customize their landscapes before starting construction. Ergonomic improvements include a quick selection tool, precise placement options, a distance indicator, and updated magnetic capture settings for easier construction. An environmental control panel allows real-time adjustments to elements like time of day, rain, fog, and colors, while two graphical modes are available: Performance mode for 60 frames per second with upscaling, or Quality mode for 30 frames per second with higher visual fidelity. The game also supports keyboard and mouse input alongside traditional controller use. The Expanded Edition for Switch 2 will include ten expansions and content packs from launch, such as After Dark, Snowfall, Green Cities, and Sunset Harbor, as well as content packs like Map Pack 3, Country Road, Pearls from the East, Deep Focus Radio, Carols, Candles & Candy, and Match Day. These additions provide players with various ways to enhance their experience, whether by introducing seasonal themes, specific infrastructure, or decorative elements. Existing owners of the original Cities: Skylines on Nintendo Switch will be eligible for the 70% discount on the Expanded Edition, which is valid from October 28, 2026, to April 28, 2027. In addition to the Switch 2 release, Paradox Interactive has also announced three new content packs for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series versions of Cities: Skylines and Cities: Skylines – Remastered, available starting October 28, 2026. The Holiday Getaways pack, created by Tomas13TO, lets players design luxury vacation spots and themed parks for their citizens. The Mansions & Manors pack, developed by Feindbold, introduces upscale residential areas with elegant estates and luxury vehicles. The Blueprint Beats Radio pack offers a collection of 16 tracks blending lo-fi hip-hop and chillhop music, designed to enhance the construction and development experience. These three content packs are available separately for $5.99, £4.99, or €5.99, with the radio station priced at $3.99, £2.99, or €3.99. They can also be purchased together in the Estates & Escapes bundle for $12.99, £10.99, or €12.99.
