New MacBook Pro with M6 chip

Apple has released updated versions of its 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac, both featuring the new M6 chip. The 14-inch MacBook Pro keeps its design but adds more powerful components compared to the previous M5 generation.

Enhanced CPU and GPU performance

The 14-inch MacBook Pro now includes a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, each with two more cores than the M5 version. Apple claims this provides up to 30% better graphics performance and 25% faster local AI processing.

Advanced neural processing

The MacBook Pro is equipped with a dual 16-core Neural Engine, which Apple says can deliver performance up to 1.9 times faster than the previous generation for tasks like AI and machine learning.

Improved display and connectivity

The device features a Liquid Retina XDR screen capable of reaching 1,600 nits in HDR brightness. It also includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and several ports including Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, and an SDXC card reader.

Battery life and availability

Apple states the 14-inch MacBook Pro offers up to 24 hours of battery life, with fast charging that can restore 50% of the battery in 30 minutes. It will be available in deep space black and silver, with pre-orders starting October 28 and retail availability on November 6, 2026.

Updated iMac with M6 chip

The iMac has also received an update with the M6 chip, offering two configurations with 10-core or 12-core CPU and GPU combinations. This promises significantly improved performance, especially in graphic-intensive tasks like photo editing.

Performance improvements in AI and graphics

The M6 chip in the iMac provides graphics performance up to twice that of the M4 iMac, with the Neural Engine offering up to five times the performance for certain AI tasks. The memory bandwidth has increased to 170 GB/s, and the SSD can read and write data up to twice as fast as the previous generation.

Display and connectivity upgrades

The iMac retains its 24-inch Retina 4.5K screen with a brightness of 500 nits and support for the P3 color gamut. It now includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and an Ethernet port capable of speeds up to 2.5 Gbit/s on the top configuration.

Pricing and availability

The new M6 iMac will be available for pre-order starting October 28, with a planned release date of November 6, 2026. The starting price in France is 1,799 euros for the model with a 10-core CPU and GPU.
