Mandatory electronic invoicing begins in 2026

Starting September 1, 2026, all businesses in France must receive electronic invoices, and by 2027, they must also issue them in this format. The change affects all companies, including micro-entrepreneurs, who are required to comply with both receiving and issuing electronic invoices.

What is an electronic invoice?

An electronic invoice is not a PDF sent by email but a structured document that must be sent through an approved platform and registered with the tax administration. Software that is not approved must connect to an approved platform to ensure compliance.

Timeline for the electronic invoicing reform

The reform sets different deadlines depending on the size of the business. By September 1, 2026, all companies must receive electronic invoices. Large companies and ETIs (Entreprises de Taille Intermediaire) must also issue and transmit data (e-reporting) by this date. SMEs, small businesses, and micro-entrepreneurs will have until September 1, 2027, to issue and transmit e-invoices.

Requirements for electronic invoices

The reform does not change the content of invoices but requires them to include specific details such as the issuance date, a unique number, the identities of the seller and customer, product descriptions, prices, taxes, and payment terms. Micro-entrepreneurs must also add a specific note about VAT. Four new mandatory mentions include the client's Siren number and the nature of the operations invoiced.

Magniv Pro simplifies compliance

Magniv Pro, a French invoicing software, integrates electronic invoicing into all its packages, including the free one. It connects to the approved platform Super PDP and includes all necessary features for compliance, such as generating electronic invoices and managing data transmission.

User-friendly features of Magniv Pro

The software allows users to create invoices quickly using a pre-recorded product or service catalog. It automatically connects to the Insee database to find client information and calculates VAT, including for quotes with multiple rates. It also offers customizable interfaces and allows multiple users to collaborate on the same account.

Sending and receiving invoices

Invoices are sent via email with a unique link that gives the client access to a PDF version. The software supports up to five collaborators and offers different user profiles, such as Admin and Bookkeeper, with varying levels of access. It also adapts to smartphone screens but does not have a dedicated mobile app.

Payment and tracking features

Each issued invoice includes a secure payment link that allows clients to pay by credit card. The software automatically updates the invoice status to "paid" once the payment is received and sends a confirmation email. Payment fees are 2% of the total amount before tax plus 0.25 euros per transaction, with a portion going to Magniv Pro.

Pricing and compliance

Magniv Pro offers three packages—Free, Growth, and Business—that differ mainly in invoicing and customer limits. All packages are compliant with the RGPD, and the most comprehensive plan does not exceed 100 euros HT per year in costs. The pricing is designed to be affordable for both new and established businesses.
