Annual event in Calvisson

Eight events are held annually, with one taking place this Tuesday afternoon in Calvisson. The Gardoise Caregiver Days aim to raise awareness, provide information, and offer animations and well-being workshops.

Event details and organizers

Organized by the La Vaunage-Vidourle Resource Space, managed by the Marcella association, and coordinated by the Gard Departmental Council, this was the third session. This year's event included a forum theater starting at 3 p.m., allowing caregivers to speak out.

Support and services provided

Partner organizations provided information and assistance regarding daily work. Didier Garcia, president of the Marcella association, stated that for almost three years, they have received more than 520 family requests for listening and orientation, and they have supported them with their partners.

Home care services in the region

Bonjours Présence 30, specialized in the home care of elderly people and present in the Gard department for more than fifty years, participated in the event. Bertrand Bianciotto, responsible for the teleassistance service, explained that the service includes devices that help people in difficulty and alert them at a distance.

Challenges in recruitment

Chloé Gorzala, area manager for the Caveirac agency, is in charge of the home care part. She explained that she handles both recruitment and helps at home for the beneficiaries by offering them life assistants and assisting them in preparing their applications for these services. A problem remains: recruitment. The demand is increasing, but people who want to take on the job are not following.

Local perspective and future events

Mayor of Calvisson, Véronique Martin, is herself touched by the subject, being a caregiver for her parents. She stated that she perfectly knows the problem and has known Didier Garcia for a long time, having seen his association grow. She emphasized the importance of the event for their commune, noting that there are many elderly people in Calvisson. For Christmas packages, for example, nearly 700 copies are distributed annually.

Upcoming events in the region

This Thursday, October 15, Alès will host a caregiver day. The last one of the year will take place in Uchaud on October 23.
