Océane Michelon's new coaching setup

Océane Michelon, a 24-year-old French biathlete, is now working exclusively with Patrick Favre as her shooting coach. Previously, she had two coaches, Jean-Paul Giachino and Patrick Favre, who both contributed to her training in the French women's biathlon team over the last two summers.

Michelon's Olympic success

Michelon became an Olympic champion in the relay and mass-start events in February in Antholz, Italy. Patrick Favre was the primary coach guiding her during the last season, which led to her success in these events.

Giachino's assessment of Michelon

Jean-Paul Giachino, a French shooting expert, said Michelon's talent was not a surprise. However, he was impressed by her ability to handle the high-pressure situation on the last shot of the mass-start event, which he described as very stressful and emotional.

Giachino's retirement from coaching

Giachino has decided to retire from coaching at the end of the Olympic cycle. His departure means Michelon is now fully under Favre's guidance, requiring them to relearn how to work together and set common goals.

Adjusting to new coaching dynamics

Michelon and Favre have spent the summer adjusting their coach/trainee relationship and refining her rifle setup. She described Favre as attentive and versatile, comparing him to a Swiss army knife, which makes working with him both challenging and interesting.
