The ninth edition of the Laver Cup is set to take place this weekend at The O2, a large indoor arena in east London. The event is a tennis competition similar in format to the Ryder Cup, a well-known golf tournament, and features two teams—Team Europe and Team World—competing on indoor hard courts. The Laver Cup, first held in 2017, is an annual event where six-player teams compete over three days. So far, Europe has won five of the eight previous editions, while Team World has taken three of the last four, including last year’s event in San Francisco. Team Europe is captained by French tennis legend Yannick Noah and includes top players such as Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and Alexander Zverev from Germany. Team World, led by former tennis star Andre Agassi, features players like Australia’s Alex de Minaur and Taylor Fritz from the United States. Over the course of the weekend, the teams will play a series of singles and doubles matches. On the first two days, matches will be split into two sessions—afternoon and evening—with the final day dedicated to a decisive showdown. Points awarded vary by day: one point per match on Friday, two on Saturday, and three on Sunday. The first team to reach 13 points wins the tournament. If the score is tied at 12-12 after Sunday’s matches, a one-set doubles decider will be played to determine the winner. The competition will follow a specific format, with all matches played as best-of-three tie-break sets. Instead of playing a full third set, players will play a 10-point tie-break if the score reaches 6-6 in a set. This format is designed to keep matches shorter and more exciting for fans. The event will take place over three days, with matches scheduled on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, each with specific time slots and sessions. Tickets are still available for all five sessions of the weekend, with prices ranging from £64 for upper-level seats at The O2 to £1,745 for premium hospitality packages. Fans can also purchase multi-session ticket packages or group tickets for 12 or more people. The Laver Cup continues to draw top players and fans alike, offering a unique blend of sportsmanship, competition, and entertainment in the world of tennis.
