Winter season begins in November 2026

Scala Provence in Avignon will start its winter season on November 27, 2026, and continue through May 7, 2027, with six performances. The theater is known for its diverse and challenging productions that are accessible to a wide audience.

Renovations limit performance count

The theater’s director, Frédéric Biessy, announced the season in early October, explaining that the smaller number of performances is due to planned renovations of the roof, ceiling, and stage equipment. These upgrades aim to improve the comfort and safety of the audience.

Diverse programming continues

Despite the reduced schedule, the winter season will uphold Scala Provence’s identity of multidisciplinary, demanding, and accessible programming. It will include works by established artists, emerging creators, and unique productions that push artistic boundaries.

Emotional story of love and history

One of the performances is Les Lettres à Anne, a play based on letters written by François Mitterrand to Anne Pingeot. The production explores the emotional and historical relationship between the former French president and an art historian.

Actress shares personal journey

On December 11, actress Kelly Rivière will perform La vie rêvée, a show in which she recounts her personal journey of overcoming illusions and achieving success despite challenges.

Humorous and imaginative storytelling

On January 8, 2027, Xavier Guelfi will present Brasser de l'air et s'envoler, a humorous and imaginative play that blends creativity with storytelling. The performance invites the audience to explore the power of imagination.

Timeless tale for all ages

On January 17, Philippe Torreton will narrate Le Petit Prince, the classic story by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The performance promises to be a poetic and philosophical adventure, suitable for audiences of all ages.

Personal reflection on life's challenges

On February 4, Ariane Ascaride returns with Touchée par les fées, a performance in which she shares her own story of wounds, laughter, and resilience with honesty and sincerity.

Youthful physical theater debut

On May 7, Frantz and five young actors from the BPM company will debut Ana, a new creation emphasizing physical expression, movement, mime, sound effects, and singing. The performance highlights the training they received at the Jacques-Lecoq International School of Theater.
