Philippe Tabarot visits Lyon airport

Philippe Tabarot, a French minister, will visit Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport this Friday to mark the beginning of expansion work on terminal 2. This visit highlights the importance of the project and signals its official start.

Expansion linked to 2030 Winter Games

The expansion project is part of the preparations for the 2030 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. These international sporting events will be held in the French Alps, and the airport improvements are intended to support the event's logistics and visitor management.

Improving traveler experience

The expansion aims to improve conditions for welcoming travelers, particularly in terms of accessibility, connectivity, and services. These upgrades are necessary as the airport handled 10.7 million passengers in 2025 and is expected to serve as a key aerial gateway to the Alpine stations hosting the games.

Officials accompany the minister

Philippe Tabarot will be accompanied by Étienne Guyot, the prefect of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and the Rhône department, and Fabrice Pannekoucke, the president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Their presence underscores the regional importance of the project and the collaboration between different levels of government.
