Themes and style of Ceska

According to Ki-oon, Ceska is an editorial favorite inspired by Magus of the Library. It blends fantasy, magic, mysteries, and romance into a political drama with elegant art and messages about society.

Plot summary of Ceska

The story follows Ceska, a young polyglot who works as an interpreter at the Makari academy, an institution that brings together students from diverse cultures. Her deep understanding of different ethnic customs makes her a key figure in preventing chaos.

Conflict and magical twist

The Makari academy’s peaceful environment is disrupted when members of the Yagu ethnicity, who lack magical abilities and have been historically marginalized, are admitted. Ceska sees their arrival as an opportunity to learn more, but the situation escalates when Shiki, the Yagu prince, declares his love for her and casts a spell that destroys all magic.

Ceska’s journey and challenges

Through her relationship with Shiki and her knowledge of different cultures, Ceska becomes central to preventing chaos. The manga explores her journey in a world that is both beautiful and ruthless, where she must confront the mysteries of magic and the complexities of power.
