In a short video posted on Monday evening on TF1's social media platforms, singer and musician Mosimann confirmed that he will be the director of the upcoming season of the French talent show Star Academy. The 38-year-old artist, who won the seventh season of the show in 2008, will take over from Michael Goldman, who previously held the role. In the video, Mosimann said, "The auditions are over. The 2026 class will be incredible. The season is about to begin, be ready." Earlier this summer, when asked on the show Scope! from 20 Minutes TV if he would be taking over from Goldman, Mosimann humorously avoided the question, joking that he had been offered a position at 20 Minutes instead. However, during the same interview, he spoke highly of Star Academy, which he won as a 19-year-old in 2008. He described the show as "an extremely powerful school of life," saying it transformed his career and allowed him to perform duets with legendary artists like Johnny Hallyday and Charles Aznavour. Mosimann has built a successful career as a DJ, producer, and composer. He has worked with various artists, including co-writing and co-producing tracks for the album Mesdames by Grand Corps Malade in 2020. Since Star Academy returned to television in 2022, Mosimann has remained closely involved with the show, offering masterclasses to contestants and reorchestrating popular songs like Ne partez pas sans moi and Voulez-vous, which were performed by past winners. In addition to his work with Star Academy, Mosimann has also contributed to the music of Pierre Garnier, the 2024 winner of the show, by co-writing and co-producing tracks for Garnier's debut album Chaque seconde. Since the 2025 season, Mosimann has also shared his "dream tracks" on the radio station France Inter, further expanding his influence in the French music scene.
