Dolly Parton's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been replaced after the original was vandalized following the late country music icon's death last week. The star, which was originally placed in 1984, was located in the heart of Hollywood, Los Angeles. Fans had gathered around it, leaving flowers and candles in tribute after Parton passed away at the age of 80. On Monday, photos emerged showing the star had been defaced, with vandals scratching the surface and damaging her name. Repairs were completed on Wednesday, and the Hollywood Historic Trust announced that the new star would be unveiled on Friday. "The Hollywood Historic Trust and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce are proud to honor the legacy of Dolly Parton with a replacement of her star," the organization wrote on Instagram. The new star will be available for viewing starting Friday. Ana Martinez of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce explained that the items fans had left at the original star were removed before repairs began. The work had already been planned to address cracks in the star before the vandalism occurred. The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a famous landmark, with over 2,800 stars embedded along Hollywood Boulevard. These stars recognize the achievements of individuals and groups across the entertainment industry. After Parton's death, tributes poured in from around the world, with many expressing grief and admiration for the singer-songwriter, known for hits like "9 to 5" and "Jolene." Parton was laid to rest next to her late husband, Carl Dean, at a private family funeral in Nashville on Friday. The following evening, one of Parton's nieces, Jada Star, performed at a tribute concert at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House, a historic venue in country music. Dollywood, Parton's theme park in Tennessee, has announced several new features to honor its "dreamer-in-chief." The park will add a waterfall outside the chapel's front steps, creating a peaceful setting for guests to reflect and enjoy the natural surroundings. The chapel will also feature new stained-glass windows that reflect one of Parton's favorite Bible verses: "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven." Additionally, the park will introduce a new character called the Dream Maker in 2025 to honor Parton's love for children and her Imagination Library, a book donation program that provides free books to children.
