French farmers can now apply for aid to buy diesel, with new windows opening for April, May, and June 2026.
Decree published for GNR assistance
The decree allowing farmers to purchase GNR (non-road diesel) at reduced prices for April, May, and June has been published in the official journal on October 31, as promised by Annie Genevard during the Livestock Summit on October 8. The aid includes 15 cents per liter for May and June 2026 and 3.86 cents for April, and requests can be made until November 30, 2026.Implementation responsibility
The Ministry of Public Action and Public Accounts is tasked with implementing this measure. When contacted by Reussir.fr, the ministry has not yet announced the official reopening date for the assistance windows. Farmers must submit their aid requests through the website https://chorus-pro.gouv.fr.Aid already distributed
Since the start of the GNR purchase assistance program, 74 million euros have been paid to more than 184,000 farmers, according to the Ministry of Agriculture as of October 20. For May alone, the estimated cost of the 15 cent aid to farmers was 53 million euros, indicating many farmers have yet to apply for the aid.Other aid windows open
The assistance windows for the months of September and October are currently open. Farmers can request aid for September deliveries until December 31, 2026, and for October deliveries until January 31, 2027. Additionally, the release of 10 million barrels of diesel from France’s strategic reserves has led to a projected decrease in GNR prices at the pump starting November 1.Price reduction announced
The Total group has announced a 20-cent-per-liter reduction in GNR prices for farmers and public works starting this week, which may further ease the financial burden on the agricultural sector.
