Fire breaks out in rural home

A fire broke out on 26 October at approximately 11:35 p.m. on rue de la Vieille-Barque in Arc-et-Senans, a small village in the Doubs department of France, about thirty kilometers south of Besançon.

Cause of fire remains unknown

Firefighters reported that the fire originated in the basement of the house, but the cause has not yet been determined. The house, which is isolated and located in the southwest part of the village, is described as being particularly difficult to access due to its clutter.

House filled with stored items

According to firefighters from Doubs, the house, which is about 80 square meters in size and has two floors, was filled with items stored in all the corners by its owner. This made the situation more complex for emergency responders, who had to be especially cautious while checking the entire property.

Emergency services secure the area

Firefighters arrived with their fire trucks to secure the house and its surroundings. The road was temporarily blocked to facilitate their work, and several fire hoses were deployed. A safety perimeter was established, and nearby residents were reassured about their safety.

Two people rescued and treated

The property owner, an 84-year-old man, was rescued and quickly taken out of the house by firefighters. A 61-year-old neighbor was also evacuated. Both individuals were transported to the CHU of Besançon for medical evaluation, particularly after inhaling smoke, which caused breathing difficulties. They are undergoing further tests to rule out any health issues, but their condition is not considered serious.
