Alfa Romeo, the iconic Italian carmaker, is getting ready to unveil its next compact SUV, a vehicle that will be available in both electric and hybrid versions. The brand released a teaser image this summer, giving a first look at the upcoming model, which is expected to debut no earlier than the end of 2027. This new SUV will be part of Alfa Romeo’s evolving lineup, which is undergoing significant transformation as the company adapts to the shift toward electric vehicles and changing consumer preferences. The teaser image shows only a small portion of the SUV's rear, highlighting a distinctive light signature and some styling elements that suggest a coupe-like design. This design choice isn’t random. In 2024, Alfa Romeo introduced an SUV named Milano, but had to quickly rename it due to an Italian law that prohibits using names referencing Italy for products not made in the country. The Milano was assembled in Poland, prompting the name change to "Junior." Now, with production moving to Melfi, Italy, the brand aims to avoid any similar issues with its new model. This upcoming compact SUV is designed to appeal to a wide range of customers, not just those interested in fully electric vehicles. It will be offered in both 100% electric and hybrid versions, allowing Alfa Romeo to cater to varying market demands. Positioned in the highly competitive C-segment of the SUV market, the new model aims to attract a broader customer base and potentially help restore Alfa Romeo’s reputation within its parent company, Stellantis. The SUV will be built on the STLA Medium platform and will be assembled alongside other models like the Jeep Compass and Lancia Gamma. Despite the excitement surrounding the teaser, the wait for the full reveal may be long. The global presentation of the SUV is expected only by the end of 2027. Until then, Alfa Romeo plans to release more hints and updates to keep anticipation high for what is expected to be a key model in its future lineup.
