Restrictions in Paris for Saturday demonstrations

Demonstrators planning to gather in Paris this Saturday will need to avoid several key districts due to restrictions imposed by the Paris police prefecture. These restrictions are in place from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and cover areas such as the Champs-Elysées and the Place de la Concorde.

Affected areas include major landmarks

The restrictions also apply to several other important locations, including the Place de la Bourse, Place du Châtelet, Place de la Bastille, Place d'Italie, and the Halles district. Additionally, areas around the Elysée Palace, Matignon, the Ministry of the Interior, the National Assembly, the Senate, the City Hall, and Paris train stations are included in the restrictions.

Fines for violating the restrictions

Those who do not comply with the restrictions risk being fined 135 euros. The police prefecture has emphasized the importance of these measures to ensure public safety and order during the demonstrations.

Route changes for Interfac IDF procession

The routes for the two main processions have been the subject of discussions with the authorities. The Paris police prefect, Patrice Faure, rejected the initially proposed route by Interfac IDF, which was intended to end at Place de la Concorde, calling it "not acceptable."

Approved route differs from initial plan

The prefecture proposed an alternative route from République to Nation, but this was rejected by Interfac IDF on Friday evening. For the second procession, which includes yellow vests and the intersyndical movement, the police prefecture also rejected the initial route and set an alternative between Place de la République and Place de Clichy.

Authorities cite security concerns

The police prefecture has justified these changes by citing "security requirements," while maintaining the bans on gatherings in the affected areas. These adjustments aim to manage the flow of demonstrators and prevent potential conflicts in restricted zones.
