Cryptocurrency deposits on exchange platforms have increased by more than 160% over one year, according to a recent report by CryptoQuant. This surge in deposit activity reached 76,000 transactions and 51,000 depositors (cumulative over 7 days), a level not seen since October 17, 2025. The trend had not been observed since the peak of bitcoin at $126,000 reached on October 5, 2025. According to CryptoQuant, when holders transfer cryptocurrencies to exchange platforms, it is generally with the intention of selling them. Bitcoin remains a strategic asset for investors, with holders realizing a profit of 25,700 bitcoins on September 22, the largest day of 2026, confirming that investors are taking advantage of the strength of the market to collect their profits. Bitcoin has been in good shape for several weeks, trading above $83,400 on CoinMarketCap at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, October 1. Last week, bitcoin even exceeded $85,000, its highest level since January, causing the prices of other cryptocurrencies to rise. Despite bitcoin's dominance in the cryptocurrency market, with a capitalization of $1,670 billion on a total capitalization of $2,979 billion as of today, some altcoins have achieved better performance than bitcoin over the past few months, notably thanks to internal market factors (project launches, blockchain improvements, etc.). This has led to a resurgence in altcoins, which are cryptocurrencies other than bitcoin.
