A Paris court recently awarded Kim Kardashian 1 euro (approximately $1.15) in compensation for an armed robbery she experienced in 2016. The amount was exactly what she had requested, according to a lawyer involved in the case. The court had previously found eight individuals guilty of their roles in the robbery, which Kardashian described as "the most terrifying experience of my life." The incident occurred during Paris Fashion Week when two robbers, dressed as police officers, entered her hotel suite, bound her with zip ties and tape, and stole more than $6 million in jewelry. In addition to the compensation awarded to Kardashian, the court gave 109,516 euros (approximately $126,472) to a former receptionist at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, where the robbery took place. The receptionist had asked for 550,000 euros (approximately $634,868) in damages and interest. He described being traumatized by the robbery and welcomed the court’s decision as a victory. His lawyer, Mohand Ouidja, shared the court’s written decisions related to both Kardashian and others with The Associated Press. The court also awarded the hotel 50,000 euros (approximately $57,741) and gave 1 euro to Simone Bretter, Kardashian’s stylist who was present during the robbery. The robbers, known in France as "les papys braqueurs" (the grandpa robbers) due to their ages—six of them were in their 60s and 70s—were tried for armed robbery, kidnapping, and other charges. However, none of them went back to prison because they had already served time in pretrial detention, and none of them appealed the verdict. Kardashian expressed gratitude in a statement for the French authorities’ pursuit of justice in the case. She called the crime a "most terrifying experience of my life," noting its lasting impact on her and her family. While she emphasized that she would never forget what happened, she also expressed belief in growth, accountability, and healing. She remains committed to advocating for justice and promoting a fair legal system.
