French rapper PLK, known for his Polish heritage and the stage name "Polak," is set to headline at the Stade de France on Friday, September 4, and Saturday, September 5. The two-day event in Saint-Denis, just outside Paris, is expected to draw around 160,000 fans, marking PLK’s first time as the main act at the iconic stadium. PLK, whose real name is Mathieu Pruski, has become a major figure in French rap, with billions of streams and a string of successful collaborations with artists like Jul, Gazo, La Mano 1.9, and Theodora. His single "Pocahontas" from his third album, Grand Garçon, was a standout track of the summer. PLK began his rap career at a young age, performing his first freestyle on Planète Rap, an influential show on the radio station Skyrock, when he was just 14. He left his job as an automobile mechanic to pursue music full-time, releasing projects such as Enna (2020) and Chambre 140 (2024). According to Arachnée Productions, which organizes his concerts, these projects have led to over 1.3 million albums sold and four billion streams. Following the Stade de France shows, PLK will begin a tour of approximately twenty dates starting in October, signed with Panenka Music, an independent record label based in Paris. In an interview with journalist HugoDécrypte, PLK admitted to feeling "a monstrous pressure" ahead of the event but described the experience as a "playing field" and "a game." In another interview with Le Parisien, he confessed that he often feels ashamed of his work and sometimes makes up a different job when talking to a taxi driver, revealing a sense of self-doubt that contrasts with his public success. PLK’s journey from a mechanic to a top rapper highlights both the challenges and rewards of a career in music. His upcoming performances at the Stade de France represent a significant milestone in his career, showcasing his influence and the growing appeal of his music across France.
