Three years after merging, Zeplug and ChargeGuru have decided to unite under a single brand called Tohmo. The rebranding is meant to streamline operations and focus on growing their presence in Europe, especially in co-ownership models and commercial fleets. The company is also looking into future technologies like V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) and energy storage. Nicolas Banchet, co-founder of ChargeGuru, said the name change was a carefully planned process that first unified their product offerings, digital tools, and teams before launching the new brand.
This rebranding happens as electric vehicle sales are rising sharply in Europe, making home and workplace charging more important than ever. For customers who already have charging solutions, there won’t be immediate changes, but new tools for managing charging and energy use data are expected to be introduced soon.
Tohmo claims to have installed about 100,000 charging points, with 40% of its operations focused on co-ownership models, 40% on businesses, and 20% on single-family homes. France is a key market, with 18,289 buildings having shared charging infrastructure in the second quarter of 2026, a 45% increase from the previous year. Tohmo aims to grow its co-ownership network from 30,000 to 100,000 units by 2030 and connect 10 million parking spaces across Europe.
France will continue to be the main driver of growth, but Germany and Italy are also important markets. Germany has set aside 500 million euros to develop charging infrastructure in collective buildings, offering subsidies of up to 2,000 euros per location. In Italy, the government covers 80% of the cost for domestic charging setups, up to 1,500 euros for individuals and 8,000 euros for co-ownerships.
The segment of company fleets, especially for charging employees' electric vehicles, is also growing. Tohmo is positioning itself to benefit from the rising use of electric vehicles. In France, electric cars accounted for 38.8% of new passenger car registrations in August 2026, according to Avere-France. Over the first eight months of 2026, electric car sales in France rose by 74.2%, and now represent 21.7% of the European Union market.
Tohmo is also investigating V2G technology, which allows electric vehicles to send electricity back to the power grid. However, this market is still in its early stages, with challenges like ensuring compatibility between vehicles, charging stations, and energy providers. The company is also working on pilot projects that combine energy storage with fast-charging stations, aiming to improve energy use in areas with limited electrical capacity.
