Meta unveiled its new VR Glasses at the Meta Connect 2026 event, set to launch in spring 2027 for $1,299. These glasses are significantly lighter than previous VR headsets, with the headset itself weighing about 100 grams. The computing and battery components are kept in a separate, tethered puck, allowing for a more comfortable design. The VR Glasses support full-color passthrough video, a 5K micro-OLED display with a high resolution of 37 pixels per degree, and advanced Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos spatial audio. They also feature eye and hand tracking for interaction, enabling users to use a virtual keyboard and trackpad projected onto any surface.
The new VR Glasses are compatible with all existing Quest content and will support over 75 titles optimized for hand and gaze controls at launch. Gaming experiences such as Beat Saber Flux can be played without traditional controllers. Meta has also partnered with major streaming platforms like Disney+, Prime Video, YouTube, HBO Max, Paramount+, and Peacock to bring 3D film catalogs to the glasses. This includes VR Enhanced versions of popular films like Avengers: Infinity War and Star Wars: A New Hope.
In addition to the VR Glasses, Meta introduced updates to its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. The third-generation model includes a 12-megapixel sensor, 3K video capture, and dynamic photo features, and is now available in new styles like the Aviator and Zena. The Ray-Ban Meta Audio model was also launched, offering audio-only functionality with a lightweight design and up to 12 hours of battery life, but without a camera to address privacy concerns.
Meta is also developing the Muse AI agent, which will be integrated into its smart glasses. This AI voice assistant will help users with tasks such as identifying objects, finding where to buy them, and making purchases. A new hearing enhancement feature was also announced, designed to assist users in noisy environments. In the gaming and entertainment space, updates to Beat Saber include hand tracking and a new single-player mode called Flux. Other updates include the return of the VR exercise platform Supernatural to the Meta Horizon Store and the upcoming release of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies in VR. Meta is also expanding its VR movie offerings, with Disney+ subscribers able to stream films in 3D starting in November, and VR Enhanced versions of iconic films available in spring 2027.
The Ray-Ban Meta Display glasses are also being released in more markets, including the UK and Canada, priced at £749 in the UK. These glasses will support holographic avatars in video calls and include features such as heads-up navigation, photo editing, and Dolby Atmos video capture.
