D-Link releases two new outdoor cameras

D-Link has introduced two new Wi-Fi motorized surveillance cameras, the DCS-6530 and DCS-8530, priced at 65.90 € and 84.90 € respectively. Both are intended for outdoor use and offer features like movement tracking, person detection, and color night vision.

Camera specifications differ

The DCS-6530 records in 2304 × 1296 pixels with a rotation of 340° and tilt over 90°, while the DCS-8530 provides higher resolution at 2880 × 1620 pixels, with a rotation of 350°. The DCS-8530 also includes vehicle recognition, which is useful for monitoring garage entrances.

Both models are built for outdoor use

Both cameras operate on mains power and require an outlet nearby. They are equipped with IP65 and IP66 ratings for outdoor durability, which means they are resistant to dust and water.

Lighting and connectivity vary

The DCS-6530 has two spotlights and an infrared lighting range of 8 meters, compared to 15 meters for the DCS-8530. Both models support Wi-Fi connectivity, with the DCS-6530 using Wi-Fi 6 on the 2.4 GHz band and the DCS-8530 using Wi-Fi 5, which also accepts 5 GHz.

User interaction and storage options

The mydlink application allows users to view footage, receive alerts, and engage in remote conversations via a microphone and speaker. Videos can be recorded continuously on a microSD card up to 512 GB, though this is not included by default. Cloud storage requires a mydlink subscription.
