Charles Kantor, who left H Company in June 2025 during the VivaTech technology conference, has relaunched his entrepreneurial efforts with Blackfuel, a new venture focused on artificial intelligence infrastructure. Kantor has partnered with Xavier Fisher, co-founder of Datakalb, a startup specializing in image analysis using AI, which was acquired by Apple in 2023. Unlike H Company, which develops AI agents—software designed to perform specific tasks—Blackfuel aims to provide the infrastructure and computing power needed to run AI models after their training is complete. The company targets major generative AI firms such as OpenAI or Anthropic, offering reserved computing capabilities. Kantor stated that Blackfuel's goal is to become one of the major global players in AI infrastructure, starting with Europe. Blackfuel claims to have signed more than 250 million euros in multi-year contracts. A first deployment is underway in Barcelona, with a planned launch by the end of the year, and additional installations are expected in Spain, Finland, and France by 2027. The company aims to reach 2 billion euros in contracts by next year. Beyond physical infrastructure, Blackfuel also develops its own software and AI agents to reduce the cost of using its computing capabilities while improving performance. Kantor explained that the company is combining infrastructure, software, and capital to enable companies to use artificial intelligence on a large scale, with the same predictability as electricity. Kantor previously led H Company, which raised 220 million dollars in its first funding round in May 2024 from investors such as Xavier Niel, Eric Schmidt, and Bernard Arnault. However, the company faced turbulence after the funding round, with three of the five co-founders leaving due to "operational disagreements." A year later, Kantor handed over his CEO role to Gautier Cloix, former head of Palantir France. Laurent Sifre, the last remaining founding team member still operational at H Company, has recently joined Microsoft. None of the five original co-founders are now working within the company.
