Netflix is launching a new original film alongside the debut of the first two movies in the Scream horror franchise. From October 5 to October 11, 2026, the streaming platform is expected to add at least twenty films and five new series to its library. Among the additions are the first two Scream films, directed by Wes Craven, and a new original production titled Animals. The Scream films, released in 1996 and 1997, are considered classics in the horror genre. They follow the story of Sidney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell, who lives in the fictional town of Woodsboro and becomes a target in a series of brutal murders. The films also star Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and David Arquette as Dewey Riley, among other well-known actors. In addition to the Scream films, Netflix is launching Animals, a new original film directed by and starring Ben Affleck. The movie centers on Mark Kimball and his wife, Abigail, who face a devastating situation when their son is kidnapped. The film features a cast that includes Kerry Washington, Gillian Anderson, Steven Yeun, Ray Fisher, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Adriana Paz, and Matt Gerald. Alongside these new additions, Netflix is also expanding its catalog with a variety of other content, including both classic films and recent releases. This update aims to provide subscribers with a wide range of entertainment options, from nostalgic favorites to new and original productions.
