Warren Zaïre-Emery, a 20-year-old midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has been ruled out of the French national team’s training camp due to an injury to his adductor—a muscle in the inner thigh. The French Football Federation (FFF) confirmed on Monday, September 21, that Zaïre-Emery will not attend the gathering at Clairefontaine, the national team’s training center, which begins this week. This decision follows discussions between the French team’s medical staff and PSG, and it was made in agreement with both parties. Zaïre-Emery will be replaced by Maghnes Akliouche, another PSG player, who has been called up to the squad for the first time. The French team’s gathering comes ahead of Zinédine Zidane’s first match in charge, which will take place on Friday, September 25, in Turkey. The match is part of the Nations League, a competition involving national teams from around the world. Zaïre-Emery’s absence marks a change in Zidane’s initial squad list, following another substitution earlier in the week when Robin Risser, a player from the club Lens, was replaced due to physical issues. Jean Butez, a goalkeeper from Lens, was called up to replace Risser in that instance. Zaïre-Emery had been expected to participate in the training camp, which is a key part of the national team’s preparation for upcoming matches. His injury, though not severe, has forced him to miss this important phase of the team’s buildup under Zidane’s leadership. Akliouche, who is also a young player, now has the opportunity to gain experience at the senior international level. The French Football Federation emphasized that the decision to replace Zaïre-Emery was made with the player’s best interests in mind, ensuring he has sufficient time to recover. The team will continue its preparations at Clairefontaine, with the focus now on integrating Akliouche into the squad and preparing for the match against Turkey.
