The emulation of the PlayStation 5 is advancing quickly, with some independent developers using artificial intelligence tools to achieve this. Marvel's Wolverine, a video game that was released exclusively for the PS5 on September 15, can already be launched via an emulator called KytyPS5. Content creator Chris Mizo shared on X on September 28 that "Wolverine is already running on the PS5 emulator, only 12 days after its release." He posted a clip originally shared by X user Jose Coixao, which shows the main menu of Marvel's Wolverine running in windowed mode on a PC. The game was tested on a system featuring an Nvidia RTX 5090 graphics card and an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor. Chris Mizo added that "We can see another PS5 exclusive reaching the early stages of PC emulation just days after its release, even though it is still far from being playable." Marvel's Wolverine can be launched on PC, but its menu is limited to 2 frames per second. As it stands, the game does not go beyond its main menu on PC, even with an RTX 5090. Therefore, it is currently impossible to start a game session. The road is still long, but the mere fact that it can be launched shows the speed at which PS5 emulation is progressing. One should remember the various demonstrations of Demon's Souls and Astro Bot, two major PS5 exclusives. A few weeks ago, these two games were not much smoother. The RPG Demon's Souls is now running at 120 fps. "PS5 emulation is progressing at a lightning-fast speed. According to a video shared on Bilibili, the remake of Demon's Souls seems to be running between 30 and 50 fps using the KytyPS5 emulator. In the video description, it is stated: 'The recently launched Opus 5.5 is quite powerful. I tested it and saw that Opus 5.5, in conjunction with DeepSeek, continued to optimize the PS5 emulator,' " notes content creator Senhor Linguica Pro on September 27. Opus 5.5 is the latest model from Anthropic, launched on September 22 and presented by the company as tailored for programming. Its actual role in these advancements remains impossible to measure. KytyPS5 has a competitor, SharpEmu, which is also progressing. On Monday, September 28, internet user Baldly Rudy noted: "The compatibility of the PS5 emulator SharpEmu is making progress: 58 games tested, 16 reach gameplay, 7 are playable, Doom + Doom 2 is playable, Demon's Souls reaches gameplay, Silent Hill: The Short Message reaches gameplay." SharpEmu publishes its progress on the project's website. Senhor Linguica Pro adds another point, with a touch of sarcasm: "PlayStation said it would no longer release its games on PC... Well, yes... The community will take care of it." In any case, this is a significant thorn in Sony's side, which may have to fight against emulation in the coming months, or even weeks. Sony has been in the spotlight since July 1, the date on which it announced the cessation of production of discs for its new games starting from January 2028.
