Video game Appulse combines multiple genres

A new video game titled Appulse merges elements of pinball, roguelike, and shoot'em up genres and is scheduled for release on November 26, 2026. The game is being developed by a small team of four people based in Nantes, France, and will be published by Raw Fury for a Steam launch.

Gameplay concept and setting

According to the developers, Appulse transports players into a science fiction universe where the objective is to defend a fleet of ships, each serving as a board to conquer. The game incorporates a roguelike structure with upgrade choices and skill unlocks, including features such as increased recoil and time slowdown.

Mechanics and player movement

The gameplay involves controlling a ball through triggers, with each shot pushing the player in the opposite direction, allowing for strategic movement. This mechanic combines the reflex-based play of pinball with the dynamic action of shoot'em up games.

Demo availability and upcoming updates

A playable demo of Appulse is already available on Steam and will be updated on October 19 as part of the Steam Néo Fest. The update will include more content, improvements in interface, visual effects, and balance, along with a new journal system for tracking mission progress.
