Hugo Yimga-Moukouri named best young player

Hugo Yimga-Moukouri, a forward for Nanterre 92, has been named the best young player of October in the Betclic ELITE league. The recognition was announced by Betclic ELITE on its social media following four weeks in which young talents in the league had significant impacts.

Strong performance in October

During October, Yimga-Moukouri recorded strong averages in five matches: 10.6 points at 42.2% shooting accuracy, 6.6 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in only 23 minutes per game. His performance included a standout game where he scored 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 23 minutes.

Struggles and breakthrough

The start of the season was not smooth for Yimga-Moukouri, as he had two more subdued performances before his breakthrough. During the home game against BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque on October 10 at Maurice-Thorez, Yimga-Moukouri recorded 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 19 points in evaluation in 23 minutes.

Impressive individual record

This distinction adds to an already impressive individual record for the 18-year-old player. Last season, Yimga-Moukouri had accumulated five monthly trophies (December, February, March, April, and May) before being crowned best young player of the 2025-2026 Betclic ELITE season.

Other young players stand out

Although Yimga-Moukouri wins the award, several other young players have also stood out over the past four weeks. Aaron Towo-Nansi, who has been given increasing responsibilities as the leader of the Cholet team, was honored with his first starting position against Nanterre.

International call-up and future expectations

Yimga-Moukouri has also been called up by Frédéric Fauthoux for the next international window for the French team, nearly a year after he was a training partner. It will be necessary to rely on him again to dominate individual awards this season.
