Enhanced security planned for Perpignan

Louis Aliot, mayor of Perpignan and president of the Perpignan Mediterranean Metropolis, announced increased security measures for Saturday in the city center. He is working with state authorities, including the Prefect and police leaders, to double the security presence and respond more effectively to potential incidents.

Mobile police units to be deployed

Mobile intervention columns made up of municipal police will be formed to quickly address any incidents. These units will be able to move swiftly through the city center to manage situations as they arise.

Cleanup teams prepared for possible damage

The city's cleaning service staff will be mobilized to handle any damage quickly. Aliot also asked urban community services to remove items like bins and scooters from public roads, which could be used as projectiles during disturbances.

New reporting system and surveillance activated

A reporting platform will be created to inform merchants of any issues and allow law enforcement to respond rapidly. The city's full video surveillance system will be activated, and the municipal police will increase protection around sensitive locations.

Crisis center to manage the day's security

A crisis control center will be set up to oversee security efforts throughout the day. Aliot emphasized that all available resources will be used to protect citizens and merchants from those involved in breaking, looting, or targeting the Republic.
