Lorenzo Finn joins professional cycling team

Lorenzo Finn, a 19-year-old Italian cyclist, has joined the WorldTour team Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, marking his transition to professional cycling. Finn, who won the junior world championships in 2024 and 2025, also secured victories in the Giro d'Italia Next Gen and the Tour de l'Avenir this season. His promotion is a result of his progress within the team's development structure.

Finn reflects on becoming a professional

Finn expressed his feelings about the transition, stating, "Becoming a professional is a dream that is now becoming reality. One must take a moment to stop and say: I have not yet reached my ultimate goal, but I have become a professional cyclist. It is something I have dreamed of since I was a child." He added, "Now, I should not put too much pressure on myself. I first need to get used to this level."

Finn's approach to his first professional season

Finn continued, "I have no particular expectations for my first year as a professional. I want to continue to progress throughout the season and help the team. I still have time ahead of me. I am still far from having reached my full potential. But I have now reached a level that allows me to have confidence in myself. I feel today 100% ready to take this new step."

Team highlights its youth development strategy

Zak Dempster, sports manager of Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, highlighted the importance of developing young talent, stating, "The development of our own talents is an essential element of our strategy. Our goal is to provide young riders with a clear path to reach the WorldTour." He noted that Finn is the first rider to have followed this path from the junior ranks.

Team sends message to young cyclists

Dempster emphasized that this confirms the team's project works and sends a message to young riders worldwide: "If you want to progress in the long term, Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe offers the ideal environment and conditions."
