Google is enhancing its Gemini Spark AI assistant with new features and accessibility during I/O 2026, but with regional restrictions.
Gemini Spark integration in Google ecosystem
During the Google I/O 2026 event, Gemini Spark is being further integrated into the Google ecosystem. This AI agent is designed to function as a virtual secretary capable of operating 24 hours a day without requiring the user to keep the application open. Spark operates on Google's servers, allowing it to continue working even when the phone is locked or the computer is closed.New interface for Gemini chat
To make its agent more accessible, Google is integrating it directly into the Gemini chat window. The application changes its interface as a result, with new sections dedicated to the agent, noted by 9to5Google.Access through a new button
In the Gemini chat space, a "Task" button (or "Tâches") now appears next to the "Chat" button, just above the text input area. It launches Gemini Spark. This direct access simplifies the use of the AI agent, even if it erases its name: in the account menu, "Gemini Spark Settings" becomes simply "Task settings."Reorganization of menu and tasks
Spark disappears from the navigation menu, in favor of a new page "Planifiées." It groups the tasks assigned to Spark and the planned actions, categorized into four sections: active, paused, completed, and suggested. The list of conversations, at the bottom of the menu, loses its title "Récentes." It now gathers classic discussions and tasks assigned to Spark into a single history.Gradual deployment and regional restrictions
Google is deploying this new interface gradually on Android, through a server-side update: therefore, not all users see it yet, even with the updated application. 9to5Google has not yet detected it on iOS or the web version. Gemini Spark remains reserved for Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers. French subscribers will not benefit from it for now.Geographic availability
Gemini Spark was extended to more than 160 countries by the end of July, but it remains unavailable in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Nigeria, even with the AI Ultra subscription.
