Oppo unveils new tablet in India

Oppo India confirmed this week that it will launch the Pad Mini Matte Display Edition in India on Thursday, October 22. The tablet will be released alongside the Find X10 smartphones and possibly the Enco X4 earbuds.

Features of the Pad Mini

The Pad Mini features an 8.8-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2,520 × 1,680 pixels and a maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz. It also includes a matte treatment designed to reduce reflections and provide a paper-like feel when using a stylus.

Technical specifications

Inside the Pad Mini is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, an 8,000 mAh battery, and it will be available in a single lavender violet color. The screen bezels are extremely narrow, measuring only 2.99 mm.

Launch event in Spain

Oppo is hosting the global launch of the Find X10 and Find X10 Pro Max in Majorca, Spain, on Wednesday, October 21. The company has not confirmed whether the Pad Mini or Enco X4 will be part of this event, though their presence remains possible.

Regional availability and variations

The Oppo Malaysia website lists the Pad Mini as available on October 22, while the Thailand site already features a version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. These details suggest the tablet may have regional variations in specifications.

Android tablet market landscape

The Android tablet market faces competition from Apple's iPad mini, which currently has an 8.3-inch LCD screen and costs 689 euros in France. Apple is planning an OLED version of the iPad mini, expected to cost around 799 dollars in the United States.

Other Android tablet options

Other Android tablets, such as the Redmagic Astra 2 and Lenovo Legion Tab, focus on gaming with features like fans and RGB LEDs. However, there is a lack of small Android tablets with matte screens suitable for reading, taking notes, and watching videos in Europe.

Amazon's entry into the segment

Amazon is entering the small tablet market with the Alexa 8, set to launch in France on October 19 for 230 euros. However, it comes with lighter specifications compared to other models currently available.
