Mailo power plant expansion details

The second phase of the Mailo power plant, completed by Namibian company Alensy Energy Solutions in under twelve months, adds 34.5 MWc to the site, increasing its total capacity to 59.5 MWc. This project was funded by Standard Bank South Africa, with equity support from BB Energy, Solarcentury Africa's parent company.

Mailo's operational and market model

The first phase of the Mailo power plant, with a capacity of 25 MWc, has been operational since July 2025. Its electricity is sold to industrial buyers and through the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP), allowing the producer to market its energy directly without a long-term contract with a national utility.
