Mason Rook, a 29-year-old wrestler from Nottinghamshire, has been making waves in the professional wrestling world. Previously known as Will Kroos, Rook has built a reputation in the UK wrestling scene, competing for promotions such as Pro Championship Wrestling, Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW), RevPro, and PROGRESS. His career took a new turn in 2024 when he began wrestling in Japan for Pro Wrestling Noah, a promotion known for its high-level competition. It was during this time that he caught the attention of WWE, leading to his recent debut on WWE’s NXT roster, a developmental league that often serves as a stepping stone for future WWE superstars. John Cena, a 17-time world champion and one of the most recognizable names in wrestling, has publicly praised Rook’s abilities. During the filming of his upcoming movie Matchbox in Budapest, Hungary, from late November 2024 to May 2025, Cena reportedly watched UK wrestling broadcasts on hotel television and frequently saw Will Kroos perform. Impressed by Rook’s in-ring skills and storytelling, Cena said he was “floored” by his performance. He was particularly surprised by Rook’s NXT debut in April 2025, which marked a significant step in the wrestler’s career. Cena expressed excitement about the possibility of meeting Rook during WWE’s event in Glasgow, and he was “starstruck” when they finally met. He highlighted Rook’s unique ability to engage audiences with his in-ring intelligence and narrative-driven matches. Cena believes Rook has a bright future in WWE and views NXT as just the beginning of what could be a successful career in the global wrestling scene. He emphasized that Rook’s storytelling and professionalism set him apart from other wrestlers. Cena also shared his admiration for Rook with his wife, Shay Shariatzadeh, encouraging her to watch his performances. He praised Rook’s ability to tell compelling stories through his matches and carry himself with grace, suggesting that his talent and presence could make him a standout performer in WWE. With Cena’s support and the opportunity to develop within NXT, Rook is positioned to take the next steps in his professional wrestling journey.
