From October 8 to 11, the Chartreuse of Villeneuve-lez-Avignon will host the 15th edition of Architecture en fête, an event exploring ways to build with fewer resources while addressing the challenges of climate change. The event will include exhibitions, conferences, debates, film screenings, performances, and workshops that examine topics such as the role of women in public space, sustainable architecture, and the preservation of heritage. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage directly with participants and take part in interactive activities. The event will begin on Thursday, October 8 at 6:30 p.m. with the screening of De Terre et d'eau, a documentary produced in 2022 by Antoine Basile, Mamoun Kadiri, and Ulysse Rousselet. The film explores traditional and contemporary building practices in the Atlas Mountains, featuring villages, kasbahs, and medinas, as well as artisans, experts, and architects. After the screening, there will be discussions with director Antoine Basile, Léa Bouillot, and Vincent Morossinde Raz-de-Terre. It is recommended to reserve a spot in advance. The official inauguration of Architecture en fête will take place on Friday at 6 p.m. as part of the Occitanie Month of Architecture, with the presence of the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs of Occitanie. A welcome drink will follow. At 7 p.m., the company En Transition will present the performance Enfin, followed by a nighttime walk around the installation Morphosis by the company Moso. These events aim to engage the public in the themes of sustainable design and environmental responsibility. On Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, Bricks Factory will organize a participatory LEGO® workshop at the Agora, with sessions from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Each hour, participants will have the chance to build a city using thousands of LEGO bricks, emphasizing accessibility and creativity. Reservations are recommended. Additionally, the association Kasajeux will host a KAPLA® workshop on both days, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. This activity, suitable for children as young as five, does not require a reservation. The program will also highlight the first edition of the Gard Departmental Renovation Prize 2026, organized by the CAUE (Council of Architecture, Urban Planning, and Environment) of the Gard. On Saturday, October 10 at 11 a.m., architect and eco-construction artisan Mika Sautet will present the rehabilitation of the Tardieu House in Arles. This project showcases the use of bio-based materials in urban renovation. The session, open to all, will last 1 hour and 30 minutes. Reservations are recommended.
