TP-Link has officially shared details about its upcoming Wi-Fi 8 products at IFA 2026, following a brief teaser earlier this year. The company had previously announced its first Wi-Fi 8 router, the Archer 8, at Computex in June. Now, TP-Link is expanding its lineup with two new models: the Archer 8 Ultra (BN800) and the Deco 8 Ultra (BN85) mesh network kit. These devices are part of the next generation of wireless networking technology, designed to offer significantly faster speeds and more reliable connections for homes and businesses. The Archer 8 Ultra uses Broadcom chips and includes 18 internal antennas, allowing for a theoretical maximum data transfer speed of 19 gigabits per second (Gb/s). The Deco 8 Ultra, which uses Qualcomm chips, claims an even higher theoretical speed of 22 Gb/s, though this is reduced to 19 Gb/s in Europe due to regulatory differences. Both devices also feature Ethernet ports capable of handling data transfer rates up to 10 Gb/s, which is much faster than the standard 1 Gb/s ports found in many current routers. TP-Link plans to host an online event on September 30 to provide more details about the software ecosystem and specific features of the Wi-Fi 8 standard. However, the company has not yet confirmed the number of Ethernet ports beyond the 10 Gb/s capability or whether the new devices will include additional features like USB ports. These details are expected to be clarified in the coming months. The commercial release of these products will happen gradually throughout 2027, as the Wi-Fi 8 standard continues to gain adoption. While TP-Link has provided a glimpse into the future of high-speed wireless networking, some aspects of the new devices remain under wraps, leaving consumers and tech enthusiasts eagerly waiting for further updates.
