The JBL Flip 7 portable Bluetooth speaker is currently available for 94 euros through Joybuy, a discount from its standard price of 150 euros. This makes it more affordable for consumers looking for a durable and high-quality portable speaker.

Design and durability improvements

The Flip 7 is a compact, cylindrical speaker with a sturdy plastic body covered in a wide mesh fabric. It weighs 560 grams and includes an IP68 certification, which allows it to be submerged deeper and for longer than the previous model, the Flip 6, which had an IP67 rating. It also features a small, extendable, and detachable handle, replacing the fixed wrist strap of earlier versions.

Enhanced connectivity and control

The speaker supports Bluetooth 5.4, offering a more stable connection than the Bluetooth 5.1 of the Flip 6. It includes a USB-C port for charging and wired audio playback, which may improve sound quality. The JBL Portable app allows for smooth and intuitive control of the device, and it is compatible with Auracast technology, enabling a single audio stream to be shared across multiple compatible devices.

Audio components and power upgrades

Inside the speaker, there are two active transducers: a 45 x 80 mm driver for low and mid frequencies and a 16 mm tweeter for high frequencies. JBL added two passive side radiators to enhance bass depth. The main amplifier power was increased from 20 W to 25 W, while the tweeter remains at 10 W, bringing the total power from 30 W to 35 W, allowing for louder sound without distortion.

Sound optimization and battery life

The Flip 7 includes AI Sound Boost technology, which adjusts the sound in real time to deliver more powerful and detailed audio while reducing distortion at high volumes. The speaker is described as having a balanced sound signature with controlled bass, warm mids, and detailed highs. It can last up to 16 hours in optimized mode with less bass, compared to 12 hours for the Flip 6, though battery life drops significantly when volume is increased.
