The game, which has sold over 12 million copies worldwide, follows a group of soldiers tasked with eliminating alien threats across the galaxy while promoting a form of government known as a "controlled democracy." Sony and PlayStation Productions are behind the film, assembling a team experienced in creating large-scale action spectacles. The film is being directed by Justin Lin, a veteran filmmaker known for the Fast & Furious series, who is working alongside producers Hutch Parker and Asad Qizilbash. The initial script was written by Gary Dauberman, who previously worked on horror films like It and Annabelle, and later revised by Chris Bremner, who co-wrote the recent Bad Boys sequels.
