Rwanda partners with Asian wealth firm

Rwanda has signed a strategic partnership with Raffles Family Office (RFO), an Asian wealth management firm, to attract foreign private investment into various sectors of its economy. The agreement, signed on October 22, involves the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), a government agency that promotes investments, and aims to bring in several hundred million dollars over the next few years.

Target sectors and regions

The investment opportunities will focus on sectors such as aviation, hospitality, tourism, entertainment, real estate, infrastructure, and supporting services. Key regions targeted for development include Kigali, the capital, as well as Bugesera and Musanze, which are growing areas in the country.

Formula 1 event as a catalyst

The partnership is part of Rwanda’s broader strategy to boost its economic appeal, especially with the upcoming Formula 1 African Grand Prix. Rwanda has signed a ten-year agreement to host the race starting in the early 2030s, with the circuit planned near the new Bugesera international airport. The event is expected to drive investment in related areas like aviation, tourism, and real estate.

Tourism growth and event impact

Rwanda's tourism industry has seen strong growth, with revenues reaching $685 million in 2025, a nearly 6 percent increase from the previous year. The country welcomed 1.49 million visitors, with business and event tourism contributing $94.7 million, driven by 165 international and regional events held in the year.

Investment figures and RFO’s role

In 2025, Rwanda recorded $2.62 billion in investments through 799 projects, according to RDB data. RFO, which opened a representation office in Kigali earlier in 2026, is now engaging with potential investors and planning fact-finding missions to Rwanda to showcase available projects and connect with local partners.
