Brighton and Hove Albion manager Fabian Hurzeler has said that Yankuba Minteh, the 22-year-old Gambian winger, could still "fulfill his dream" of moving to a top club in the future. This came after Brighton rejected two transfer offers from Liverpool, which were reportedly worth £50 million and £60 million. The Seagulls had been seeking a price closer to £70 million for Minteh, who joined the club from Newcastle United for £30 million in 2024. So far, Minteh has made 73 appearances for Brighton, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists. Hurzeler expressed confidence that if the team continues to perform well and Minteh continues to shine, he will attract interest again in the next transfer window. Despite the failed move to Liverpool, Hurzeler emphasized that Minteh is fully committed to Brighton. He noted that the player wears the club's colors and badge with pride and has already achieved significant success with the team. The manager also pointed out that when a club is performing well, individual players often receive attention from other teams. Brighton has been active in the transfer market, selling players like Carlos Baleba to Manchester United for £70 million and signing Chema Andres from Stuttgart for £15.5 million on deadline day. Chema Andres, the new defensive midfielder, is a 24-year-old Spanish player who joined Stuttgart from Real Madrid in 2025. He made 41 appearances for Stuttgart last season and helped the team qualify for the Champions League. Andres also made his La Liga debut in January 2025 while still at Real Madrid. Hurzeler described Andres as a player who has been nicknamed "baby Rodri" due to his similar style and role to Manchester City's Rodri. The manager praised Andres for his ambition and daily drive to improve, which he believes will help him adapt quickly to life at Brighton. Brighton's transfer activities have been focused on strengthening the squad for the upcoming season. The club has made strategic sales to fund new signings, and Hurzeler is confident that the additions like Andres will contribute to the team's success. With Minteh still under contract and showing strong form, the manager believes the club has a solid foundation to build on in the coming months.
