Final Fantasy Resonance is set to launch on October 22, 2026, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. This new entry in the popular Final Fantasy franchise is inspired by Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, a mobile game that recently ended its run. In Resonance, players will step into the shoes of Rain, a young soldier tasked with leading a group to prevent a global disaster. The game will feature characters from earlier Final Fantasy titles, such as Cloud from Final Fantasy VII, Squall from Final Fantasy VIII, Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII, Noctis from Final Fantasy XV, and the Warrior of Light from the original Final Fantasy, who are called Visions in this game.
According to producer Keisuke Nakashima, the game’s art style combines traditional pixel art with modern HD-2D techniques, creating a distinctive look. It will include turn-based combat, a gameplay mechanic not seen in recent main series games. Players will be able to break through enemy defenses and summon the Visions for powerful abilities. The game is designed as a standalone experience, meaning players do not need prior knowledge of previous Final Fantasy games or Brave Exvius to enjoy it fully, although some references and hidden details might be lost on newcomers.
The game will be available in both physical and digital formats for the Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, and PlayStation 5. Three editions will be offered: Standard (€59.99), Deluxe (€69.99, digital only), and Collector’s Edition (€219.99, no longer available). The Collector’s Edition includes the game on physical media (either PS5, Switch 2, or Switch) and a code for all the content in the Deluxe digital edition. The Collector’s Edition has now been discontinued, leaving only the Standard and Deluxe options available to players.
