Mobile bus supports local artisans

The Chamber of Crafts and Trades of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (PACA) is launching the Artisanat Tour, a mobile advisory service that will travel through the region’s six departments until May 2027. This initiative aims to provide direct support to local artisans and small business owners.

Addressing complex needs

Artisans in the PACA region face challenges such as finding financial aid, transitioning to more sustainable practices, and preparing to pass on their businesses. These processes can be complicated, prompting the need for accessible, personalized guidance.

Significance of the initiative

Craftsmanship plays a major role in the region’s economy, accounting for 20% of its commercial activity. This includes over 265,000 businesses and 400,000 employees, highlighting the importance of supporting these enterprises.

Tour schedule and access

Starting in mid-September, the Artisanat Tour will make 40 stops across the region, divided into two phases: September to November 2026, and February to May 2027. At each location, artisans and entrepreneurs can book appointments for advice between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Encouraging open dialogue

Yannick Mazette, president of the Chamber of Crafts and Trades, emphasized the importance of making the CMA Paca’s services known. He noted that while many businesses seek help, only a fraction receive long-term support, and those in difficulty often hesitate to ask for assistance.

Supporting new business creators

The Artisanat Tour also targets aspiring entrepreneurs looking to start their own artisanal businesses. It provides guidance on the initial steps needed to launch and sustain a new venture.

Engaging local stakeholders

Beyond direct support, the tour includes meetings with local officials and economic actors. These discussions aim to address broader issues such as revitalizing city centers, maintaining local jobs, and promoting the transmission of traditional skills.

Early success in Bouches-du-Rhône

In the Bouches-du-Rhône department, four communes, including Allauch, have already benefited from the initiative, demonstrating its potential to support both individual artisans and regional economic development.
