MEDEF Corse highlights free tools for professional growth in Corsica, including counseling and experience-based diplomas, to empower employees and address skills gaps.
MEDEF Corse hosts awareness event
On Tuesday, October 27, MEDEF Corse organized an information morning in Ajaccio to inform the public about the Engagement de développement de l’emploi et des compétences (EDEC) Corsica project, which aims to improve employment and skill development in the region.Key devices for professional growth
The event highlighted three main tools: professional development counseling (CEP), the validation of experience-based achievements (VAE), and support for basic skills. These tools are designed to help individuals advance their careers through structured guidance and recognition of their work experience.Free but underutilized options
Caroline Biancardini, the regional coordinator of vocational training at MEDEF Corse, noted that these procedures are free but remain largely unknown to the public and especially to employees. The CEP helps individuals evaluate their career path and create a professional plan, while the VAE allows people to earn a diploma by recognizing their experience.Real-world application of VAE
Amel Corny, director of the academic validation of experience-based achievements (DAVA) program, explained that individuals can often claim multiple diplomas through their work experience. For example, a hospital service agent in the medical and social sector could use their on-the-job skills to qualify for a nursing assistant diploma.Workplace flexibility and challenges
Biancardini emphasized that these procedures do not require employees to leave their jobs, allowing them to grow within their current positions. This is especially important in Corsica, where many small businesses lack dedicated human resources departments. However, some employees may hesitate due to discomfort with basic skills like reading, writing, or arithmetic.Support through tailored workshops
To help with these challenges, nine upskilling workshops are being offered across Corsica, including in Ajaccio, Bastia, Corte, and Porto-Vecchio. These workshops are personalized to individual needs and avoid a traditional school setting, allowing participants to focus on specific skills they wish to improve.Continuing outreach to companies
MEDEF Corse plans to continue its outreach by holding discussions directly within companies. They have already presented the program to ADMR Corse-du-Sud and are planning further sessions in the health, hospitality, and construction sectors. The goal is to make these tools widely known and encourage proactive professional development.Reactions to Senate decision
Separate reports covered reactions to the Senate’s rejection of the Corsican autonomy process. Gilles Simeoni described it as a "crushing defeat for this camp of archaism, embodied by the Republicans," while Jean-Christophe Angelini (PNC) said, "We should not return to Paris in a disorganized manner."Legal developments and political comments
A trial in Marseille involving a Russian oligarch and a Corsican developer was postponed, and Josepha Giacometti commented that "the original sin was committed right at the beginning of the Beauvau process."
